Digitization and research of German-language print media in Brazil 1852-1941
Description
The project “Digitization and research of German-language print media in Brazil 1852-1941” (DPB), which is based on an initiative of the Germanist Prof. Dr. Paulo Soethe (UFPR/UFF), aims to digitize, catalog and scientifically evaluate German-language Brazilian newspapers, almanacs and magazines. The scientific processing and research of the extensive material is not only relevant in the context of Brazil-Germany, but also offers space for discussion in the context of migration, colonialism, geography, history and other cultural and historical interests. The diversity of the linguistic and thematic content of these publications forms a large reservoir of contemporary knowledge that can be used to address important issues. Paulo Soethe adds: “These documents are much more relevant to Brazilian historiography than is often thought.”
